The SUPER 5 series has knife blades that are made by damasking stainless steel. Damasking is an advanced ancient forging technique that involves folding and joining layers of steel to optimize the sharpness, durability, and purity of the steel. This series has manually hammered blades consisting of 5 layers of high carbon steel. In addition, it is completed by a manual grinding of the edge with a 5000 grit grindstone. If you handle the knife well, it stays sharp for up to twice as long as a conventional model consisting of one layer of steel.
