Avec is usually taken with the coffee after the meal, and the name comes from a shortening of the French?s ?du café avec le petit verre? ? ?coffee with the small glass?.
Here you will find our different avec glasses such as for example cognac glasses, liqueur glasses, and punch glasses. An avec can contain everything from different liqueurs such as Baileys or Limoncello, to dark rum, cognac, punch, or whiskey. Depending on which beverage you choose, there are different avec glasses, but generally speaking, the liqueur glasses are somewhat smaller while, for example, the cognac glass is larger
When enjoying an avec, the scent is important, and you would, therefore, want the glass to bring out the maximal aroma. The avec glasses are therefore often wider at the bottom with a narrowing top (similar to wine glasses) so that you with a light circulating movement can maximize the area of the drink that is exposed to the air without losing the scents over the edge of the glass.
